I saw the Cardi B countdown floating around and thought what any music fan might think, the album was finally dropping. I wasn’t checking every tweet, but the way the buzz was building, I thought we were getting the music now.
So when, it was just a release date announcement, I was like gtfoh. Not mad, just surprised.
I’ll admit I wasn’t fully tapped into the Bardi Gang. But that moment reminded me how tricky it can be as a casual fan. You step into the hype late, catch a headline or a clip on social media, and think something big is happening right now.
Then, it’s all still part of the promo build-up.
And that’s not a knock on Cardi at all. In fact, it shows how strong her presence still is. With just a countdown and a few visuals, she had people talking like the album was hours away.
But it also makes me think, in today’s internet culture, the louder the promo, the sharper the criticism can get when the real drop happens. People form opinions before the music even drops, off vibes, tweets, or what they think they saw.
I’m not in Cardi’s main demo. I don’t follow everything closely. But I like her music, and I respect how she moves. So I’ll be checking for the album when it really drops. Just kinda felt like a fake out.
Not everything is a moment of deception. Sometimes it’s just a case of being late to the info and that’s on me or was it on her the countdown roll out?
