Beans and no biscuits.

Its Sunday morning and nothing is like waking up to the smell of navy beans, that have slow cooked in the crockpot all night long. My mouth is already set for brunch, yes brunch. Breakfast on weekends only makes sense to church goers, small kids and adults with small kids.

I can hear some of you asking, Beans for brunch?

Yup, I like most people love to eat good comfort food, no matter how starchy or sweet. Hey, its Sunday and I plan on watching football and having a conversation about football or no conversation at all. Drinking is not a requirement for watching a football game, its just highly recommended.

Before one starts drinking on a Sunday, one should definitely prepare the recipient of the drinks. The recipient being your stomach, it should receive a healthy portion of beans but not just any beans.

I’m talking Navy Beans others refer to them as Northern beans, it doesn’t matter what you call them, they are my favorite beans. I know most people don’t have a favorite bean, but I do. That’s funny because my mother never cooked beans , she doesn’t even eat beans anymore, something about growing up poor eating beans all the time.

Now that the hickory smoked bacon is ready to come out of the NuWave oven and I was ready to dig in, only then did I realize I had no biscuits to go with my beans and bacon. After a quick moment of despair, it was toasted potato bread, or crackers.

I did what, I want everyone else to do when you have 85% of a meal, be thankful and remember you can’t always have it all, so don’t let the 15% loss ruin everything.
