Should I declutter my brain? How do I declutter my brain?

Should I declutter my brain?

You should absolutely declutter your brain at least once a day.

How do I declutter my brain?

That’s a great question, glad you ask.

First, you have to think of your brain as a computer processor. Yes, a computer processor which it is. The information we take in from the moment we wake in the morning until we go to sleep at night our brain is processing millions of bits of information, most of the time we process information unconsciously. We know to ignore sounds like change dropping, especially when we haven’t reached into our pockets, right before hearing the change drop.

Second, now that you know your brain is just like a computer processor, you have to know how much our brains process in a given day.

How much information can the brain process in a day?

A “Fast Company” article titled Why It’s So Hard To Pay Attention, Explained By Science

Says  “each of us processes 34 gigabytes, or 100,000 words, every day.”

That’s an overwhelming amount of information to process and just because we can process that amount of information, doesn’t mean we should. My car stereo system is pretty loud yet I never turn the volume all the up for a long period of time.

Keeping ourselves entertained with the news, music, talking with friends, social media, and binging shows online gives our brains anytime to process that information in a really efficient way.

How do you declutter your brain?

Turn off all forms of brain stimulation. That means no calling your friends to gossip, no scrolling social media, no binging Netflix, and most importantly no busywork.

Just take a walk without music or a podcast to listen to while you walk, or you could just sit and stare out of the window, and the most helpful way for me to declutter my brain is to write out my thoughts.

Some people like to quiet take rides in the car, also painting can help with decluttering your brain.

Meditation helps many people, the only problem with that is you have to be able to quiet your thoughts before you can meditate. That’s why you should declutter your brain before attempting meditation.

So in a nutshell to declutter your brain, stop stuffing it with unnecessary information. We all need entertainment and escapes in our lives. Just remember moderation is the key to life. If your brain is cluttered you have officially overdosed on entertainment, work/career, and family time.

Hope this helps you have a Chance For a More better life.
