NBA game 7’s are what all NBA fans fiend to watch. Denver Nuggets and OKC Thunder played 6 games, which turned out to be appetizers. The main course is served in Oklahoma City.
Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is playing with a strained hamstring. He is the heart of the team in my opinion. Usually playing after a hamstring injury take weeks to come back. Aaron is back in just days.
OKC only had 8 points at the 5:45 mark of the first quarter. Denver defense allowed the role players to take open shots. That game plan was working well until Westbrook entered the game. He had two bad turnovers and a missed shot that led to several easy buckets for the Thunder.
They were shooting 31% until Russell Westbrook entered the game. They finished the quarter with only a 5 point deficit 26 – 21.
In the 2nd quarter OKC defense and offense came to life with a power bonus, like in a video game. Scoring 39 points in the quarter, with 12 points produced from turnovers in the half.
Both teams first half 3 point shooting was horrible. Denver finished the half 4 – 19 for 21.1% and Thunder finished 5 – 20 for 25%. OKC had 16 assist in the first half, that doubled the Nuggets 8 assist.
The second half started with very questionable flagrant foul against Gordon on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The refs calls seem to be favoring OKC. Which is making the game almost unwatchable, lopsided and unworthy of a NBA game 7.
Normally refs let players decide the outcome in a elimination game. I don’t care who wins the game, but if I was a Nuggets fan, I would be pissed.
Don’t get me wrong I believe OKC would have won the game. It’s just ugly officiating. Home cooking always taste better.
The Thunder lead by 43 points at one point in the second half.
I hope the NBA officials do better the rest of the playoffs.
