Shohei Ohtani agreed to a 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, valued at $700 million. This deal sets a new record in baseball, marking the richest contract for a player in the sport’s history.
Report from CBS
Big Money
“Let’s talk numbers. Ohtani recently inked a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers for a jaw-dropping $700 million over 10 years. That’s right, folks, that’s enough money to buy a small island or maybe even a sports team! But before Ohtani starts shopping for islands, there’s a little thing called taxes.”
“We all know that with great earning power comes great tax responsibility. In Ohtani’s case, Uncle Sam and California are stepping up to the plate for their share. While we don’t have the exact figures, if we take a swing at estimating, combining federal and state taxes, Ohtani might be parting with around half of his earnings. That’s a tax bill for half his money and he never said I do.
What do you think of his tax situation, nothing because them rich people problems or that’s FU?
