Netflix released “Wednesday” series on Nov. 23, 2022. The is a spinoff from the classic “Addams Family” the series is labeled as a mystery and crime series.

The show is created by Alfred Gough and Miles Miller. It’s starring Jenna Ortega, Gwendoline Christie, and Riki Lindhome.

Episode 1 “Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe

Wednesday is blessed with a special gift of vision, this ability allows her to see things that happen in the past and somewhat future.

She attends a high school known as the “Never More Academy” after being expelled from normal high school for putting piranhas in the pool with the polo team.

The first episode, keeps you interested just enough to watch the second. The producers give you an ocean of information, and your toes are the only thing getting wet.

Episode 2 “Woe is the loneliest number”

A fellow student of Wednesday who she saw murdered by a monster returns to school the next day. I have a few spoilers

The scene where he gets killed is at the end of the first episode, and the only I chose to watch the second episode.

That’s called a hook point.

The second episode is somewhat like the first, but I did get a little more invested in the story. Even though the dialogue was awful, except when the main character was in the scene.

Wednesday’s adversary Bianca Barclay has a great nemesis look, but her lines make you yawn. If I had to pick a scene stealer it would be her roommate Enid Sinclair. The bubbly werewolf is the exact opposite of Wednesday.

Right now, I’m thinking each episode could and would have been better in 30-minute episodes, so many filler scenes it’s ridiculous.

Episode 3 “Friend or Woe” in this episode Wednesday stumbles onto a secret society club in her school.

The third episode is better than the first 2 easily. It has a way better pace of the story. She also discovers more about herself which is always more interesting, when know it all characters like herself find more self-discovery.

This episode does a great job of answering one question and replacing it with 2 more questions.

Episode 4 “Woe What a Night”

I’m all locked into the series and now I’m invested as the teenage audience, the show was meant to entertain. Wednesday suspects a boy named Xavier might be a serial killer, so she does the Wednesday thing and invites him on a date.

Wednesday starts busting some crazy moves on the dance floor, I’m done and can’t stop laughing. That was the first time she resembles a normal teenage girl beside the snarky comments all teenage girls make.

Episode 5 “You Reap what You Woe”

The students of Never More Academy are visited by their parents for the weekend and Wednesday father gets arrested for a murder that occurred when he attended the Never More Academy.

This episode turned into a family drama and I mean Good Witch type of drama. Wholesome, kinda boring and you end up needing an energy drink or coffee, to continue viewing.

Episode 6 “Quid Pro Woe”

It’s Wednesday’s birthday and she receives a gift from an ancestor, with whom she shares some kind of special bond. These two are like a set of twins born 400 years apart.

Believe it or not, Wednesday has somehow formed a crew, that follows her as she gets into another situation that could lead to their death. The surrounding cast members made this episode interesting and very watchable.

Episode 7 “If You Don’t Woe Me By Now”

Uncle Fester makes a surprise appearance and it’s the best part of the series so far. Wednesday even smiles when she sees him. He lets her know the monster she’s been chasing is an Hyde and has a Jekyll side.

I know it says spoiler alert at the top, but I refuse to give away any clues about this episode. I will say this though, one plus one sometimes equals 3. Think pregnancy and no she’s not pregnant. Best episode of the series and I hope the last episode is even better.

Episode 8 “A Murder Of Woes”

This episode begins with torture, kidnapping, and great deceit.

I can’t write any more than that.

Netflix’s “Wednesday” series is a C offering. You know It’s cool, but not good enough for conversation. If you’re older than 21 you have been warned unless watching with the younger people. Look for something better unless you just like anything Addams Family.
