The answer is more complicated than most people think. I ask this question. Should NFL teams lose games on purpose for better draft picks? I’m definitely conflicted when it comes to my feeling when answering this question.

The analytical adult side of my brain says, of course, my favorite football team the New York Football Giants should lose games in order to get better draft picks. Since their chances of winning a Super Bowl are very slim right now.

The optimistic kid on the other side of my brain is yelling at my analytical side, anything can happen on any given Sunday. That’s true, but the kids haven’t lived through ten years of mediocrity on most Sundays. In he’s too young to understand the big picture.

Both of these answers are selfish if I’m being honest. The adult and the kid aren’t even considering the players who I profess to fully support and love. The players who put their physical and mental health on the line for my entertainment are more important pieces of the puzzle that my brain is missing.

How do you? Ask someone who has worked most of their life just to get an opportunity to play in this league. To purposely lose a game for a better draft pick that may replace the player that I’m asking to lose games is more than wrong. A coach may lose his job for doing a bad job and his replacement will have far better draft picks due to his taking one for the team.

Having a team in the middle of the pack of teams means, your team is average and average teams don’t win Super Bowls. Being in the middle is just like the middle finger it lets you know your f……

All that said, let me answer the question in the most none way of answering a question.

The answer is yes if you can’t win games, no if you can win games. A win today may be a fan’s last chance to see his team win, or a player’s last day on the field due to a career-ending injury, and a coach can be fired due to many circumstances, so its best to go out with a win.
